AP SBTET EXAMINATIONS

The State Board of Technical Education and Training, Andhra Pradesh (AP SBTET) functions as the statutory authority for curriculum implementation, academic regulation, and conduct of examinations for all Diploma programmes offered by Government and Private Polytechnic institutions in the state.

AP SBTET ensures a transparent, uniform, and robust examination system in line with approved academic regulations and curriculum frameworks, thereby supporting quality assurance in technical education.

Examination Governance and Objectives

  • Assess students’ attainment of Programme Outcomes (POs) and Course Outcomes (COs)
  • Ensure standardization and uniformity in evaluation across affiliated institutions
  • Promote outcome-based education and competency-driven learning
  • Maintain academic credibility, fairness, and integrity in assessment practices

Types of Examinations Conducted

  • End Semester / End Examination (Theory and Practical)
  • Supplementary Examinations
  • Internal Continuous Assessment and Practical Evaluation
  • Special / Bridge Examinations, as notified by the Board

Examination Planning and Implementation

  • Publication of examination notifications and academic calendars
  • Online application and fee submission through the official portal
  • Conduct of examinations at approved examination centres
  • Centralized evaluation, moderation, and result processing

Evaluation, Results, and Certification

Evaluation is carried out as per prescribed norms to ensure objectivity and consistency. Examination results are published on the official AP SBTET website within the stipulated timeframe. Successful candidates are issued:

  • Marks Memos
  • Provisional Certificates
  • Diploma Certificates

Examination Structure and Assessment Methodology

Internal Assessment (IA)

Marks Allocation:

  • Theory Subjects – 20 Marks
  • Practical / Laboratory Subjects – 40 Marks

Components of Internal Assessment:

  • Class tests / unit tests
  • Assignments and tutorials
  • Seminar / presentation (where applicable)
  • Attendance and class participation
  • Continuous laboratory performance and records

External End Examination (EE)

Marks Allocation:

  • Theory Subjects – 80 Marks
  • Practical / Laboratory Subjects – 60 Marks

Overall Marks Distribution

  • Theory: IA 20 + EE 80 = 100 Marks
  • Practical: IA 40 + EE 60 = 100 Marks

Supplementary and Special Examinations

  • Supplementary Examinations for unsuccessful candidates
  • Special / Bridge Examinations as notified
